This month marks the 10th anniversary of Luxafor, a journey that began in January 2015, with the launch of our flagship product, the Luxafor Flag, on Kickstarter.
Over the past decade, Luxafor has grown from a single idea into a trusted brand, helping professionals worldwide achieve better productivity and focus. Here’s a look at how we’ve reached this milestone .
Solving Our Own Problem
We founded Luxafor to address a challenge we faced while working on tech startups in a shared coworking space.
We kept getting distracted while trying to develop code for our other startup projects.
A single “walk-up” could easily cost up to 20 minutes of productive time.
That’s how we realized the need for a simple, non-intrusive way to communicate our availability to each other.
By early 2015, we launched our first product, the Luxafor Flag, on Kickstarter. It was a straightforward tool designed to signal availability clearly and intuitively.
It turned out that we weren’t the only ones with this problem.
The campaign validated the need for such a tool and helped us build recognition among productivity enthusiasts.
By solving our own problem, we had effectively laid the foundation of what would eventually become a global brand. Our idea resonated with professionals worldwide, and the Luxafor Flag over time became a favorite for improving workplace communication.
Growing by Listening to Our Users
Our commitment to productivity and innovation didn’t stop with the Luxafor Flag.
Over the years, we’ve focused on listening to our users. Their feedback and real-world challenges have driven the development of every product we’ve launched.
From tools that reduce distractions to devices that help improve air quality and optimize meeting room management, each innovation has been inspired by the people who use our products every day.
Their suggestions have proven invaluable. In a way, they have been able to reduce the risk of launching completely new products in a niche market without any clue about their potential success.
If you keep hearing the same suggestions and complaints from your users, it is not that difficult to guess what problem to try and solve. You just have to go out there, solve it, and the users will come.
By prioritizing existing customers’ needs and continually refining our designs, we’ve been able to offer solutions that truly make a difference in productivity and workplace efficiency.
Keep Refining
We recently launched two updated products to improve usability, update design, and address user feedback.
The Flag 2 builds on the success of the original device that established us as a player in the productivity market. The new Flag 2 features an improved design and USB-C, which has recently become the most frequent request.
Similarly, the Switch Pro 2 offers improved features shaped by the suggestions of our users.
The remote controllable availability light for meeting rooms and offices was updated with a redesigned Cube – the remote control of the device. The newer and sleeker Cube 2 can now also be used on its own, without being connected to the wireless busy light, and features an updated USB-C connector.
These updates show how we’re constantly improving our products to meet the needs of today’s workplaces, thanks to feedback from our users.
